With the Winnipeg Jets (stanley cup ring for sale) searching for the biggest goal of their season, players in the dressing room were loose heading into overtime Tuesday night.
"I mean, who doesn't want to play in an overtime (playoff) game?" forward Kyle Connor said. "I think everybody had that kind of mentality and we went out there to win it, not to kind of hold back and sit back and try to defend them."
It worked.
Connor scored at 6:02 of overtime and the Jets beat the St. Louis Blues (custom championship rings) 2-1 to tie their best-of-seven Western Conference series at two games apiece.

"Every game has been a battle," Scheifele said. "St. Louis has made us work for every inch and we know that's going to happen again in Game 5 going back home. We've got to be prepared. We've got to get our rest and be ready to battle."
Vladimir Tarasenko scored and Jordan Binnington made 37 saves for the Blues.
"Obviously, tough for sure. But again, it's a tight series," St. Louis coach Craig Berube said. "Two good teams, it could have gone either way."
Connor ended it when he banged home a feed from Scheifele for his third goal in two games. It was the first playoff overtime winner for the Jets since they returned to Winnipeg in 2011.
"It's going to look like this for possibly the next three games," coach Paul Maurice said. "It's going to be really, really tight. The entire team is going to have to play well, but you're going to need one guy to put you over the top."
Tarasenko beat Hellebuyck with a wrist shot from the top of the left circle 35 seconds into the third period to give the Blues a 1-0 lead. The power-play goal, Tarasenko's eighth career in the postseason, moved him into a tie with Brian Sutter and Al MacInnis for fourth in franchise history.
Scheifele tied it at the 7:33 mark, tipping in a feed from Connor. It was Scheifele's second goal of the series.
"Our game got better as the game went on," Scheifele said. "We knew they were going to push and they pushed all night. They played solid. They made us work for every inch. Binnington made a ton of saves and so did our goalie."
After a slow start in Game 3, the Blues (stanley cup ring for sale) came out strong in the first period. They built an 8-0 advantage in shots on goal as it took the Jets almost 11 minutes to test Binnington, who came up with a couple of saves on a Winnipeg power play to keep the game scoreless.
Pat Maroon had a pair of chances to give the Blues the lead in the second period, hitting the post off a pass from Tyler Bozak and getting stopped by Hellebuyck on a partial break.

Deadline passes without new deal for Clowney. Gould's deal, which his agent, Brian Mackler, and 49ers executive Paraag Marathe have been working on for months, reached a breakthrough over the weekend. At the start of the weekend, both sides thought it would be challenging to get it done, but they reached a compromise Sunday by installing an option clause.
The 49ers (cheap championship rings) have an option in which they can pick up the remaining two years on Gould's contract by the 17th week of the 2020 season, per a source. To do that, the 49ers would have to fully guarantee Gould $2.25 million at that time, then another $2.25 million on April 1, 2021. The deal includes a $3 million signing bonus and a $3.15 million fully guaranteed base salary this season, then a fully guaranteed $4.35 million base salary in 2020, per a source. If the option is picked up, the deal would include a $4.5 million base salary in 2021 and a $4 million base salary in 2022.

Shawn Kelley (5-2), the fifth Texas pitcher, had a perfect ninth.
Rookie Yordan Alvarez hit two of the four homers for the Astros (custom Houston Astros championship rings) (57-35), who have come out of the All-Star break with two consecutive losses to the surprising Rangers (50-42). Tim Federowicz hit a homer after Cole was done. "It was like a heavyweight slugfest," said Cole, who has 42 strikeouts over 22 1/3 innings in four starts against Texas this season. "Came up short, but it was an entertaining game. It was quite a game."
Choo had a leadoff homer for the Rangers, and Santana's one-out blast in the second tied the game at 2-2. The next nine outs recorded by Cole, into the fifth, were on strikeouts. The only Texas run in that span was Gallo's 21st homer leading off the fourth. "That doesn't surprise me in this park. That wasn't a lot to do with the park, though. Their approach was good, they hit the ball when they needed to," Astros manager AJ Hinch said. "They were tough at-bats. It was kind of a true outcome-type game. They were punching out a ton, they were walking, they were homering and they got the single at the end."

In just his eighth game in the league -- and third with the Bulls -- he scored a career-high 24 points, including two free throws with 1.8 seconds to play, to help Chicago (cheap Chicago bulls championship rings) snap a five-game losing streak with a 115-114 victory over the Washington Wizards on Wednesday night.

Josh Donaldson capped his strong first-half finish by hitting a two-run homer and Culberson's defensive play helped the Atlanta Braves (Atlanta Braves championship rings for sale) escaped a bases-loaded jam in the ninth to beat the Miami Marlins 4-3 on Sunday.
With no outs and the bases loaded, Culberson caught Neil Walker's fly ball in left field and threw out Jorge Alfaro at the plate .
"I got chill bumps," Culberson said of hearing the fans' reaction to the plate.
Culberson has hit .323 as a pinch-hitter this season and has hit eight pinch-hit homers since the start of 2018, tied for the most in the majors, to earn the "clutch" nickname.
"I like it," Culberson said. "I just hope people don't hold me to it every single day."
The Braves are 10-2 against the Marlins this season and 24-7 the past two seasons.
Atlanta (championship rings for sale) led 4-0 before Garrett Cooper hit a three-run homer off Chad Sobotka in the eighth.
Miami then loaded the bases with no outs in the ninth. Alfaro led off the inning with an infield hit off Braves closer Luke Jackson. Alfaro was called out at first base before the ruling was overturned after a review. Harold Ramirez singled up the middle before Yadiel Rivera popped up a bunt that landed behind Jackson for an infield hit, loading the bases.
Culberson, a late-inning defensive replacement, caught Walker's fly ball while running toward center field. His momentum caused him to fall after making the throw.
After making the tag, Braves catcher Brian McCann pumped his fist and pointed to Culberson.
The out call at the plate was upheld after a review. Marlins (world series rings) manager Don Mattingly said he wanted a review because he thought McCann was blocking the plate.
"I don't know where the rule went or maybe I don't understand it because when we looked at the replay McCann is standing on home plate and then he goes directly to taking home plate completely away with nowhere to slide," Mattingly said, adding "... in that scenario Jorge should have cleaned his clock."
The replay showed McCann had his right foot in front of the plate and his left foot on the middle of the plate as he caught Culberson's throw.
Jackson walked Curtis Granderson, again loading the bases, before ending the game on Miguel Rojas' fly ball to center field. Jackson earned his 14th save.
Donaldson applauded Culberson's catch and throw and McCann's tag.
"He made a great throw," Donaldson said. "Great tag. Great all around. Great execution."
Freddie Freeman's bloop single off Trevor Richards in the third drove in Ronald Acuna Jr. for a 1-0 lead. Donaldson then hit a high fastball over the right-center field wall for his 200th career homer, his 18th this season.
Donaldson has hit 10 homers since June 11. He helped the Braves (MLB Teams championship rings) hit a franchise-record 143 homers before the All-Star break.
Dallas Keuchel (2-2) allowed two runs in 7 1/3 innings. The left-hander was lifted after walking pinch-hitter Brian Anderson and giving up a single to Rojas with one out in the eighth. Sobotka struck out Cesar Puello before giving up Cooper's three-run homer.
Richards (3-10) allowed four runs and six hits and five walks, matching his season high, in five innings.
Nick Markakis had three hits, including a run-scoring single in the fifth. Acuna had a career-high three walks.
The start of the game was delayed 26 minutes by rain.
The Chicago Cubs (Chicago Cubs championship rings for sale) splurged on closer Craig Kimbrel last month in hopes of shoring up the back end of their spotty bullpen.
So far, the seven-time All Star is fitting in for all the wrong reasons.
Jung Ho Kang scored on Corey Dickerson's sacrifice fly to cap a frantic ninth-inning rally off Kimbrel and lift the Pittsburgh Pirates to a 6-5 victory over the struggling Cubs on Wednesday night.
Kimbrel (0-1) came on to protect a one-run lead and pick up his second save since signing a three-year deal with Chicago. Instead he trudged to the dugout with his teammate walked off with his first loss since joining the Cubs. The Pirates used a walk, a flare that turned into a double and some aggressive base running to win their third straight.
The closer walked Elias Diaz on a full count with one out. Kang followed with a double to right that Chicago's Willson Contreras couldn't track down. Diaz beat the throw to the plate from Chicago second baseman Addison Russell on Adam Frazier's fielders' choice. Kang sprinted home when Kyle Schwarber's heave from left field following Dickerson's fly ball was late to set off a giddy celebration.
"I think my stuff was moving and I was throwing it where I wanted to a little bit more, but didn't get the results," Kimbrel said. "That doesn't always work out."
"That was nuts. Craziest ending to a game that I've ever seen," said Pittsburgh first baseman Josh Bell, who hit his 26th home run of the season and added a double to give him 59 extra-base hits, the most ever by a National League player before the All-Star break. "I feel like that just adds to the momentum."
Starling Marte collected three hits for the Pirates. Frazier's streak of hits in seven straight at bats ended in the first but he singled in the seventh. Melky Cabrera went 3 for 4 and delivered a two-run home run off Chicago starter Yu Darvish but was also thrown out at home by Contreras to end the eighth while trying to score on a single by Colin Moran.
All it did was set the stage for Pittsburgh's (world series rings) 21st comeback win of the season.
"We play hard from the beginning to end," Diaz said. "It's special."
REELING CUBS
Victor Caratini homered from both sides of the plate for the Cubs, including a go-ahead two-run shot in the seventh off Francisco Liriano to give the Cubs a 5-4 lead. Javy Baez added his 22nd home run for Chicago but the Cubs lost their fourth consecutive game.
Chicago (cheap championship rings) missed a chance to pull even with Milwaukee for first in the jam-packed NL Central, where all five clubs are separated by 4 1/2 games heading into July 4.
"These kinds of losses are difficult but you have to come back and play the next day," Cubs manager Joe Maddon said. "That's how the game is set up. I do like the fact that we played a better brand of baseball. We did a lot of things well in spite of not having everybody out there."
No team has been able to take control of the division. Chicago looked like it was ready to in early June, but an 8-19 stretch brought the Cubs back to earth.
Chicago president Theo Epstein has threatened changes if the Cubs don't get going, and Chicago called up outfield prospect Robel Garcia on Wednesday after he racked up 21 home runs in the minors following a five-year stint playing in Italy.
Garcia ended up striking out in the eighth in his first big-league at bat, but by then Caratini had already given the Cubs the lead.
Caratini's fourth home run of the season and second of the game put Darvish in line to win his first game since April 27. Darvish endured a stretch of 10 straight no-decisions -- the longest by any starting pitcher in 42 years -- before a loss to Atlanta last week. He worked crisply for most of his 6 2/3 innings, allowing four runs on seven hits with six strikeouts and no walks while throwing 62 of his 86 pitches for strikes.
Christian Yelich singled with the bases loaded and hit his major league-leading 30th homer Monday night, helping the Milwaukee Brewers (championship rings for sale) rally for their sixth straight victory at Great American Ball Park, 8-6 over the Cincinnati Reds.
Milwaukee sent 10 batters to the plate for five runs in the seventh inning, with Yelich contributing an RBI single. Yelich hit a two-run homer in the ninth that made him the first Brewer with 30 before the All-Star break. Prince Fielder hit 29 before the break in 2007.
Yelich knew he was one homer away from the mark. He hit No. 29 on June 21 and had only four hits and one RBI since.
"It's cool," Yelich said. "It's hard to put it out of your mind. You're constantly reminded about it by the fans and the media. It's nice to get it out of the way."
The homer came off a pitch that was above the strike zone and landed in the first row of seats in left field.
"It was one of those weird ones," Yelich said. "It wasn't the best pitch to swing at, but that's baseball. Sometimes, you do everything right and don't get rewarded. Sometimes, you do everything wrong and hit a home run."
Even though he's struggled lately, he had two important hits when the Brewers needed them.
"He's had a tremendous first half," manager Craig Counsell said. "I think he'll tell you he's been fighting himself a little bit, but he still came up with big hits tonight."
The Brewers (cheap Rings Set Collection championship rings) have won 11 of 15 overall against their NL Central rival. This time, they overcame a pair of two-run homers by Eugenio Suarez , who has three in the last two games.
Trailing 3-1, Lorenzo Cain led off the seventh inning with a homer that was only the second hit off Tyler Mahle. David Hernandez (2-4) walked Yasmani Grandal with the bases loaded to force in a run that put Milwaukee up 4-3, and Yelich followed with a single.
Mahle gave up three hits overall, including Keston Hiura's homer in the fifth.
The Brewers got a career-high five-plus innings from Adrian Houser, who was making his fourth start after 14 relief appearances. He blanked the Reds (Cincinnati Reds championship rings) on four hits over the first five innings, but Jesse Winker hit a solo shot and Suarez added a two-run homer as the Reds chased Houser to open the sixth.
Alex Claudio (2-2) retired the three batters he faced in the inning. Suarez connected again in the eighth off Josh Hader. Jeremy Jeffress allowed a run in the ninth while getting his first save.
Chris Taylor drove in the go-ahead run with a bloop single as part of a four-run ninth, Max Muncy hit two of Los Angeles' (cheap Los Angeles Dodgers championship rings) six homers and the Dodgers won their 12th straight over Colorado by beating the Rockies 12-8 on Thursday night.
This was another late-inning win over the Rockies for the Dodgers, who also got a three-run homer from pinch-hitter Kike Hernandez in the ninth. Los Angeles won three straight home games against Colorado last weekend -- all in walk-off fashion.
"It's just a staple for us -- the resiliency and playing with grit," Taylor said. "We've been really good late in the game."
Taylor played a big part by delivering his fourth hit of the game, a one-out RBI single off Wade Davis (1-3) that dropped over the head of first baseman Daniel Murphy. Hernandez later extended the lead by homering off Davis. It was with Hernandez's sixth career pinch-hit homer.
"They're a great team," Davis said. "When you make mistakes you're going to pay for them."
Pedro Baez (3-2) pitched a scoreless eighth to earn the win. Kenley Jansen struck out Garrett Hampson to end the game with two on in a non-save situation.
On a hot evening, the baseballs were soaring everywhere. The Dodgers (championship sports rings) knew it was going to be that sort of game in batting practice, when Muncy launched a ball that landed over the third deck in right.
"This is one of the few places where I try to let it eat in batting practice," Muncy said. "Yeah, I guess we knew it was flying at that point."
The teams combined for 33 hits in the first of a four-game set. In the last series at the hitter-friendly park, the Padres and Rockies set a modern-era record by combining for 92 runs in a four-game series.
Muncy had a two-run homer in the seventh and a solo shot in the second, one pitch after Cody Bellinger homered. Alex Verdugo and Justin Turner had back-to-back homers in the fifth.
This marks the second-longest losing streak to one team in Rockies history. Colorado dropped 16 straight to Atlanta from 1993-94.
"The worm will turn, I know that," Rockies (mlb championship rings) manager Bud Black said. "Right now things are going their way ... but the worm will turn."
Charlie Blackmon finished a homer shy of the cycle. Ryan McMahon hit a solo shot in the seventh.
Lately, everything seems to be going Bellinger's way at the plate. His 27th homer of the season popped out of the glove of center fielder David Dahl and over the fence. Bellinger is one away from matching the Dodgers' record for most homers before the All-Star break, which is held by Gil Hodges (1951) and Duke Snider (1955).
Walker Buehler had a rare rough evening in allowing a career high in runs (seven) and hits (13) over 5 2/3 innings. His ERA jumped from 2.96 to 3.43.
This was a much different performance than a week ago against Colorado, when he threw a complete-game masterpiece. In that contest at Dodger Stadium, he scattered three hits and struck out 16 batters.
Aaron Hicks and Giancarlo Stanton stretched New York's home run streak to a record-tying 27 games, and the Yankees beat the Toronto Blue Jays (custom Toronto Blue Jays championship rings) 10-8 Monday night. Hicks and Stanton each hit three-run drives, and New York matched the mark set by Alex Rodriguez and the 2002 Texas Rangers.
"Nothing surprises me that they do," Boone said about his club, which set a major league record last year with 267 homers. "I wouldn't set out to predict they're going to break that one. That's kind of an obscure one. But now that it's happened, with our group, does it surprise me? No."
"It's kind of what we do," Hicks added.
CC Sabathia (5-4) pitched six innings of two-run ball for his 251st career victory. He threw 104 pitches, his most in a game since 2016, and struck out a season-high nine. The 38-year-old left-hander whiffed Billy McKinney with his final pitch, earning a big roar from the Bronx crowd.
Stanton hit his shot during a seven-run sixth inning for his first homer in a season spoiled by various injuries.
The Yankees batted around during that inning, their fourth time turning over the order in the past week. The blowout came a night after New York ended its eight-game winning streak.
Blue Jays starter Aaron Sanchez (3-10) allowed seven runs in 5 1/3 innings. Toronto had won three of four.
Hicks turned on Sanchez's fastball in the fifth inning to make it 3-2 with his fifth homer of the season.
Didi Gregorius and Gleyber Torres led off the next inning with consecutive singles, and then the Yankees were off. DJ LeMahieu -- who matched a career high with four hits -- had a single, Luke Voit had an RBI double and Gregorius singled again before reliever Sean Reid-Foley finally ended the frame with New York up 10-3.
Lourdes Gurriel Jr. hit his 10th homer for Toronto (custom championship rings) leading off the eighth. Nine of those have come in 29 games since he was recalled from Triple-A Buffalo on May 24.
Gurriel's shot was the first of five straight hits allowed by Jonathan Holder -- the last was a grand slam by Freddy Galvis. The right-hander was pulled after that without getting an out. Gurriel batted again during the five-run inning and struck out on three pitches against Adam Ottavino.
